Grass in Early Covid

Walking the university
That day in early covid
All the gardeners home for weeks
Tools left to rust

Everything growing
Untended, wild
A meadow in a lovely wood
Rather than a lawn

Grasses, gone to seed
Waving in the breeze
So many heads of grain
I thought

This grass, unmown
Flourishing in early covid
Finally does as it’s meant to
Producing its ten-fold or more
