Child of mine
a child only a little longer
If I could send you back to Eden, I would
though it would break my heart for you to be away
If only I could give you the world whole
to leap for joy in
to grow and mature in
to explore and invent in
to be whole in
I fear one day to call out
where are you?
Find you cowering in shame
we’ve all been there, child
When you reach that juncture in the Story
the sharp left turn into brokenness
I pray my mother’s cry is joined by many others
gathered into the Voice like rushing waters
calling to each, to all together
the Invitation that sets in motion the way back to Life
Let’s hang on a little longer together
Child of mine
